Questions and answers
How much does tree removal cost?
Typical U.S. prices run from a few hundred dollars for a small tree to several thousand for a tall one near a house. Height, trunk width, access and nearby wires drive the number. Costs vary by job, so ask for a written quote before work starts. Quote before saw. Providers in our network set their own prices, not Makingcrime Tree Service.
Why do two quotes for the same tree look so different?
Say two providers look at the same oak. One plans to lift limbs out with a crane. The other plans to climb and lower pieces by rope. Those plans cost different amounts. Cleanup, wood hauling and stump work may be in one quote and missing from the other. Know the price drivers, then compare the written quotes line by line.
How can I tell if a tree might fall?
Watch for a new lean, cracks in the trunk, mushrooms at the base, dead branches, or soil that heaves after a storm. In humid, stormy regions, soft wet ground can make a weak tree riskier. A local provider can inspect it and explain options. Trimming a weak limb early often costs less than emergency tree removal later.
Can I remove a tree myself?
A small shrub, maybe. A tall tree is another story. Falling wood can hit a roof, a fence or you. Chainsaws kick back, and power lines can hide in branches. Most homeowners should leave anything large or near the house to a provider with proper gear. Ask the provider about their insurance before the job.
How fast can a provider come out?
It depends on the provider and the season. After storms, schedules fill fast, though many providers can respond quickly to urgent cases. Request a callback to check provider availability, or use the request form and mention if the tree is resting on a roof.
What counts as emergency tree removal?
Emergency tree removal is for a tree that has already fallen or is about to, such as one on a roof, across a driveway, or leaning on a power line. Stay away from it. Keep everyone out of the area and contact your utility if wires are involved. Then ask a provider about storm tree clearance. Some policies may cover sudden damage; check your policy.
Is stump grinding included in the price?
Often it is not. Many quotes cover only the tree, so ask. Stump grinding is usually priced on its own, often by stump width. Typical U.S. prices range from about one hundred to a few hundred dollars per stump, and more for large ones with wide roots. Put it in the written quote so there are no surprises.
Does Makingcrime Tree Service do the tree work?
No. Makingcrime Tree Service is a referral service. Providers do the work. When you send a request or phone in, you are connected with an independent local provider in our network who can discuss your tree. That provider gives the quote and does the job. There is no obligation to hire anyone, and you can compare more than one written quote.
